  • Curiosity and Enjoyment – Year 3 make Salsa

    Fri 23 Feb 2024
It was so lovely walking into the year 3 classrooms this week with the amazing smells emanating from within. As part of their D and T work and linked to their topic on the Mediterranean, the children were making salsa. There was a variety of ingredients to choose from to enhance the flavour of their dish. The children had to focus on their chopping skills and try to make sure that all the ingredients were roughly the same size.
  • Curiosity – Pupil parliament

    Fri 23 Feb 2024

Each half term, two of our school council representatives attend a pupil parliament meeting where they debate and discuss topical issues. On Friday, two of our School Council Representatives participated in 'Pupil Parliament' at County Hall. We debated whether pupils should be able to go on holiday in term time and we learned how food waste can be turned into biofuel.

  • All our school values – Rutland’s treat at the Dragon reward

    Fri 23 Feb 2024

A huge well done to Rutland house for their hard work this half term. Rutland collected the most Dragon’s Gold and were treated to ‘Pancake Mania’. The children were given lots of choices of toppings and created their very own pancake masterpiece. They all thoroughly enjoyed the treat and it was lots of fun. The children collect Dragon’s Gold for good work in books and for showing the school values around school.

  • Reflection – NSPCC assembly

    Thu 01 Feb 2024
This week, we talked to the children about the NSPCC and their ‘Speak out, stay safe’ programme. The children discussed what different types of abuse they know and what types of worries children of their age may have. We talked about who a trusted adult is and what trusted adults they have in their lives. We watched a video on child line and saw a story about a child who was suffering abuse at home. It was a very informative session and the children left with a good understanding of what they should do if they or someone they know was being abused.
  • Reflection and Determination – Art in year 4

    Thu 01 Feb 2024
Wow, it was so impressive to see the standard or art work in year 4 this week. The children have been painting themselves in the style of Amedeo Modigliani. I have included one of his pieces so you can see how good they are. The children focused on proportions and getting the neck and eyes correct. They will then be moving on to look at the background to capture the complete style. What a super effort!
  • Collaboration and Enjoyment – Year 3 and 4 basketball festival

    Thu 01 Feb 2024

Well done to the children who attended the basketball festival this week. The children focused on shooting, dribbling and effective passing. They also learnt the mummy technique. A great way to enhance the children’s skills at basketball.

Thank you to the year 5 and 6 children who attended the rowing festival this week. They all represented the school really well. The children were put into rowing pairs and had to row for over an hour. It was very physical and all the children thoroughly enjoyed the event. Thank you to Mrs Keane for taking the children,
  • Determination – Year 6 competitive cross-country event

    Thu 01 Feb 2024

Well done to the children in year 6 who entered the cross-country competition last Friday. It was a very cold and slippery day for running but that did not dampen their spirits. The boys all gave it their all and finished in very respectable positions. The girls were also all fantastic. A extra massive well done to Rosie who came first out of over 60 children, Daniela who finished second and to Emily who finished seventh. All 3 girls have qualified for a regional event in February. Well done to all the children who took part, they all represented the school brilliantly.
