Music

Music at Lady Bay

Intent

Music at Lady Bay Primary school is an important part of the curriculum .Each child receives music for 3 half terms a year from a specialist music teacher in KS2 or their class teacher in KS1. It is hoped during the course of each year that each child will have the chance to compose  ,perform and listen to a wide range of music from many genres. We also give the children the chance to play both tuned and untuned instruments such as ukeleles and glockenspiels.

We also hold weekly singing assemblies  across both key stages where the children get the the opportunity to sing a wide range of songs.

We also have a very popular KS2 choir with over 50 members. We perform annually at the Young Voices event at the Sheffield arena along with thousands of other children(covid permitting) ,forming the largest children's concerts in the world. We have  also performed at community events such as singing before Christmas  council meetings  for Rushcliffe Borough council invited by the Mayor.

We reward the choir by visiting a West End show annually - these have included Joseph, Matlida, to name but a few . This year we are going to see Mary Poppins.
