Enjoyment and Collaboration – After school rowing festival
Mon 11 Mar 2024Thank you to Mrs Davie for taking the year 6 children to the rowing festival this week. Both teams worked collaboratively to improve their initial race time beating it by several seconds by the end of the event. The girls were particularly resilient as they were a team member short (due to illness) so rowed longer and further! Mrs Davie was super impressed by their determination, fitness and overall cooperation.

Collaboration and Determination – Year 3 PE
Mon 11 Mar 2024Mrs Hewitt has spent some time this week observing the PE delivered in school. It has been fantastic to hear how positive the learning has been and that the children have a wealth of knowledge and understanding in PE and know a lot of the key vocabulary. The staff have been employing the STEP approach which is a really effective way of differentiating lessons. It was great to see that year 3 are covering golf in their PE lessons. The children were expected to use the correct stance to hit the ball accurately and then work together to play some mini games. A super lesson.

Curiosity and Enjoyment – year 1 trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park
Mon 11 Mar 2024Wow, what a fantastic day out for our year 1 children. The Yorkshire Wildlife Park has so much to offer and it was fascinating for the children to see some of the animals they have been learning about in real life. The children all walked around the whole park and there were some very tired faces by the end of the day (and that included the staff too!). The children all loved seeing Rocco the new baby Rhino, who is only 6 weeks old. They had a fabulous educational talk learning all about African animals. They were all very brave and stroked a Boa Constrictor and held a Giant African snail! Thank you to the parents who helped out with the trip, the staff for arranging it and to the children for fully engaging with all aspects of the day. A fantastic day out for all of year 1.

The children had to focus on their chopping skills and try to make sure that all the ingredients were roughly the same size.
