Summer 2- Seaside and Water

Our last topic in Foundation is all about The Seaside/ Water. The children love this topic, especially as we get to enjoy a water fight, usually towards the end of the topic. We have some great texts to read, which will encourage children to think about their environment and what changes we could make to make it better. This topic also creates lots of opportunities for art, music, discussing sea creatures and comparing different settings, thinking about our location in Lady Bay and comparing it to the seaside.

On the Farm- Summer 1

Our new topic this half term is On the Farm. We are very excited to be going on a trip to Manor Farm. We will be looking at how to care for animals, what farmers do and the machinery they use; comparing it to our country and others throughout the topic.

People Who Help Us-Spring 2

Our new, exciting topic this half term is, People Who Help Us. We will be thinking about all the people who help us in our community and school. We have invited a few visitors in to talk about their roles and responsibilities. This topic really helps the children to think of pertinent questions, it creates a lot of curiosity and aspirations of what the children would like to be when they are older.

Aliens- Spring 1

This half term, we will be learning about aliens and space through key texts. This is a great topic to explore our solar system, be creative and understand the difference between fiction and non-fiction texts. The children will be creating their own clay aliens, thinking of their own alien games and pretending to be an alien for a day.

   Winter Wonderland- Autumn 2

This half term we will be starting our new topic, Winter Wonderland. It is a brilliant topic that creates curiosity and engagement. The children will explore water, how it can change from a solid to a liquid and vice versa. The children will predict what might happen and observe. The children will also compare our country to a polar region, focusing on weather, clothes and animals.

Me and My Family- Autumn 1

Our first topic in Foundation is Me and My Family. We will be learning about you and your families and what you enjoy doing with them. We enjoy this topic as we love finding out about you and your family and the things that matter to you. We look at lots of different stories to spark conversation to promote self-awareness and confidence.
