  • Rushcliffe Arena Art Exhibition

Thu 30 Mar 2017 Hazel Mills

Three of our Year 6 pupils attended the opening launch of the Arena Art Exhibition in the foyer of Rushcliffe Arena which was officially opened by the Mayor of Rushcliffe. The artwork has been completed by children from 15 local schools and has been created in order to celebrate Nottingham as England's 'Home of Sport'. A group of 12 children from Lady Bay produced art work on two of Rushcliffe's notable buildings, namely Trent Bridge Cricket Pavilion and the brand new Rushcliffe Arena. If you are going to visit in the Easter holidays why not take a look - the exhibition runs until Thursday 20th April.

  • Science Week 2017

Tue 28 Mar 2017 Nicki Crowe

During National Science Week 13th-17th March each class spent a morning or afternoon doing five different experiments. Children in KS1 enjoyed trying to make their parrots rock and catching rainbows. Year 3 worked with a mixture that sometimes behaves as a solid and sometimes a liquid. The two Year 4 classes enjoyed launching their exploding rockets and the Year 5 pupils found out what yeast needs to grow. At the end of the week the Year 6 children learnt about DNA and extracted it from kiwi fruit followed by the enjoyable task of making a sweet model of the structure of DNA.

We were also delighted to have three parents who came in to talk to the children about how science is involved in their work. The children learnt about how some parts of the brain work, why aeroplanes are able to fly and how chromatography is used to identify chemicals.

Many thanks to all the parents who helped out in any way during the week.

  • Red Nose Day 2017 (£882.88 raised!)

Sat 25 Mar 2017 Lee Shilton

Once again the children, parents and staff amaze us with their fund-raising prowess!  They have raised a whopping £882.88 to help children and families around the world. The entire school community are incredibly proud of this achievement.  There were a variety of approaches used to raise this money:

    1) Cake sale during the extended afternoon break.

    2) Covering a number of red noses with coins (13 in total!)

    3) Buying red noses themselves.

    4) Non-uniform day
