Year 1 News

Amazing Animals at Yorkshire Wildlife Park!

The Year 1 children had a fabulous time when they visited Yorkshire Wildlife Park. They enjoyed seeing many amazing animals including lots of animals from Africa.  The children were even lucky enough to see the new baby Rhino on the cameras. He was only 6 weeks old and called Rocco! The children walked for miles and miles and were all happily exhausted by the end of the trip!

Art Day

The children have been enjoying making some masks inspired by African tribal masks as part of our Art day. They also put their masks to good use when trying out some tribal inspired dancing. What fun!

Spring 1- Once Upon a Time

Our next topic in Year 1 is 'Once Upon a Time'. Please have a look at our curriculum information page to find out what we are learning about this half term.

Welcome to Year 1!

Within our enhanced provision over our first few weeks in Year 1, we have been recapping phase 4 phonics, representing numbers to 10 (and beyond), finding one more and one less than a number, matching uppercase and lowercase letters, creating repeating patterns and sorting objects. We have been very busy!
