  • Curiosity – year 6 science

    Tue 07 May 2024

I popped into year 6 this week to see what they were learning about in science. It was fantastic to see them all really enjoying their learning and exploring Darwin’s work on different finch’s beaks. Darwin looked at why different species of finch had evolved on different islands to suit the habitat/environment on that island.  The children had different ‘beaks’ to test which were the most effective at moving items between bowls. A really interesting lesson which sparked lots of interesting discussion.

  • Curiosity – Year 5 Computing

    Tue 07 May 2024

It was really interesting talking to the year 5 children about their work in computing. They were all very knowledgeable about the subject and could explain why vector drawings are used for making logos. They were using PowerPoint to create their own vector drawings. It has been a difficult project for them especially trying to create the fading in the colours. This is one that Jessica has been working on.

  • Enjoyment and Curiosity – Year 1 trip to All Hallows church

    Tue 07 May 2024

The children in year 1 enjoyed a trip to the church this week. The children leant about the different areas within the church and talked about what it means to be a Christian. They listened to some stories and sang some songs too. It was a lovely afternoon, which the children really enjoyed, The children also learnt about Christian traditions and what it means to be baptised

  • Collaboration – Lady Bay Arts trail

    Tue 07 May 2024

It was lovely for the majority of children at Lady Bay to work with the team organising the Lady Bay Arts trail this week. The children went to All Hallows to create their own square to add to the community art project. All the squares will be put together to make a quilt, which is going to look amazing. You can see how hard Bayma tried with her design in the picture. You will be able to see all the designs at the Lady Bay Arts Trail in a couple of weeks.

  • Reflection and Curiosity – Assembly this week

    Tue 07 May 2024

It was International Dance day this week and to mark the occasion we invited Vanessa Oxspring in to talk to the children. Vanessa shared the benefits of dance for your mental health and wellbeing and that it is a great exercise too. We were also delighted that the year 1 and 2 children performed their dances from V Create and the year 6 children showed off their choreography which they will be showcasing at a Rushcliffe event in July. It was a fantastic assembly and a great way for children to see the health benefits of dance. V Create runs on a Monday and Wednesday and if you are interested in your child attending, please contact Vanessa directly.
