  • Enjoyment and Reflection – Year 3 trip to the Hindu Temple

    Thu 28 Mar 2024

The children in year 3 enjoyed a trip to the Hindu Temple this week.
They had a tour of the temple, learned about some of the stories,
and found out about the gods and festivals. The children drew some
pictures inside the temple and were all given a banana for their
respectful attitude on the trip. Well done year 3.

  • Enjoyment and Curiosity – 1JH trip to Wagamama

    Thu 28 Mar 2024

After a cancelled trip last week, it is fair to say that 1JH
were very much looking forward to their trip to
Wagamama this week and they were not disappointed.
The children had a fabulous time making fruit smoothies
and trying hot Japanese pickles. They weighed out the
ingredients for their own stir fries which the chef kindly
cooked for them! The best part was eating the delicious
noodles and ice cream for pudding! Thank you to the
fabulous staff at  Wagamama for providing the children
with such a tasty and fun food experience!

  • Reflection and caring for the environment – assembly this week

    Thu 28 Mar 2024

This week, the assembly focus was on Earth hour. We talked to
the children about the environmental issues they already knew
about and about what is happening to the planet. We also
discussed what we can do to try to limit our environmental impact.
We discussed the need to work towards a more stable climate
where people and animals can thrive. Earth hour is on Saturday
evening between 8.30pm and 9.30pm where as many people as
possible are encouraged to switch off all their lights for an hour as
a sign of unity towards a common goal.

  • Enjoyment – World Book Day

    Mon 11 Mar 2024

Wow, what a fantastic day and what fantastic outfits! All the children have had such a lvely World Book Day this year. The amount of amazing (and very diverse) book characters has been outstanding. The children have really gone to town with it this year. A massive well done to all the staff members who took part too. Some super outfits all round. The children shared their favourite books with children form different classes and it was so great ot see reading being made such a priority at Lady Bay

  • Curiosity – Year 6 computing

    Mon 11 Mar 2024
The children in year 6 were thoroughly enjoying their work in computing this week. The children were using Tinkercad to create their very own name labels. They were looking at different ways to manipulate the design and ultimately create these as key chains on a 3-d printer. A super effort and some really high-level computing work being achieved in year 6.
  • Collaboration – year 5 music lesson

    Mon 11 Mar 2024
It was really nice to pop into year 5 today to see what they were doing during their music session. The children were working of creating rhythm using standard notation. They then had to perform these as a group using different instruments. Not an easy task but the children were more than up to it.
  • Curiosity and Enjoyment – Year 2 trip to Beaumanor

    Mon 11 Mar 2024

The children in year 2 had a fantastic day trip to Beaumanor yesterday. It was so lovely to see so many of them dressed up for their pirate themed day. They took part in a pirate maths trail, a grog race, a memory game where they won some pirate treasure and some other pirate themed activities. A fantastic day for all the year 2 children.

  • Curiosity – Foundation have been learning about people who help them

    Mon 11 Mar 2024

It has been lovely to go into foundation stage this week and see all the amazing collaborative learning happening. Their topic this half term has been about people who help them. I have seen some super writing about doctors and firemen. This week, they have been learning about people who help in an emergency and have been role playing what might happen and completing incident forms.

  • Enjoyment and Collaboration – After school rowing festival

    Mon 11 Mar 2024

Thank you to Mrs Davie for taking the year 6 children to the rowing festival this week. Both teams worked collaboratively to improve their initial race time beating it by several seconds by the end of the event. The girls were particularly resilient as they were a team member short (due to illness) so rowed longer and further! Mrs Davie was super impressed by their determination, fitness and overall cooperation.

  • Collaboration and Determination – Year 3 PE

    Mon 11 Mar 2024

Mrs Hewitt has spent some time this week observing the PE delivered in school. It has been fantastic to hear how positive the learning has been and that the children have a wealth of knowledge and understanding in PE and know a lot of the key vocabulary. The staff have been employing the STEP approach which is a really effective way of differentiating lessons. It was great to see that year 3 are covering golf in their PE lessons. The children were expected to use the correct stance to hit the ball accurately and then work together to play some mini games. A super lesson.
