  • Enjoyment – year 6 D and T project

    Mon 09 Oct 2023

It was great to pop into year 6 this week and see the culmination of their design and technology work this week. The children have designed a fair ground ride and are in the process of making it. They have had to use their knowledge of circuits to make their merry-go-round spin and think about the target audience for their design. They have 1 more week to finish heir project and they are looking fantastic already,

  • Curiosity and Enjoyment – 1KH trip to Pizza Express

    Mon 09 Oct 2023

The children in 1KH had a lovely trip to Pizza Express this week. The children learnt about the different ingredients which make a pizza and all made their own. It is such an enriching experience for the children to attend an actual restaurant and a great way to support their D and T work.  Thank you to Mrs. Wells, the staff and the parents for supporting them.

  • Reflection and Respect – assembly this week

    Mon 09 Oct 2023

We focused on Dyslexia Awareness week in our assembly this week. I shared a story with the children which highlighted some of the challenges people with Dyslexia might face and asked the children to consider how they would act in certain situations. We also showed the children how people with Dyslexia learn differently. We discussed how we can support each other and what language we can use. We finished the assembly with a look at different people throughout history that have had Dyslexia and the impact they have had. Dyslexia can make certain things more difficult for children but it doesn’t hold you back from achieving what you want to in life.

  • Curiosity and Enjoyment – Year 6 Safety Zone trip

    Thu 05 Oct 2023

The children in year 6 had a really important and informative trip this as they visited Holme Pierrepont. All the children took part in mini-workshops on how to keep safe around water, railways and roads, and in the home. They also developed their emergency and first aid skills. A superb trip for many reasons and one that certainly enhances their personal development.

  • Enjoyment – Year 5/6 Girls’ football tournament

    Thu 05 Oct 2023

A big thank you and well done to all the year 5 and 6 girls who attended the football tournament on Saturday. Thank you also to Mrs. Hewitt who ran the team on the day. The girls worked incredibly hard as a team and won every game in their group. They reached the semi-finals and were knocked out 1-0 by Ruddington (who went on to win the tournament). An excellent effort and lots of positives for the girls’ team for this year.

  • Reflection and caring for each other – assembly this week

    Thu 05 Oct 2023

For our harvest assembly, it was great to invite Imran to talk to children. Imran works for the Open Kitchen on Mansfield Road which is a Muslim Hands charity. Imran spoke to the children about why charity is so important to Muslim people and what the open kitchen does to help others. The children were really engaged with the discussion and the youngest children found it difficult to comprehend that some people did not know where their next meal would be coming from. They children asked lots of questions and it was a great way to celebrate harvest. Thank you to all the families who were able to donate to the school. This has been split between the open kitchen and the Food Bank
