Enjoyment and Enrichment – Year 4 trip to Conisbrough Castle

I was so pleased that I was able to go with 4F to Conisbrough Castle this week. Although the castle is quite a journey, it was worth the wait and the children had a fantastic time. We were able to explore the castle grounds and then enter the Keep. Inside the Keep, the children learnt about the different people that lived there and spent time sketching different parts of the building.  The children also took part in a workshop lead by the national trust at the centre. During the workshop, the children were able to explore a range of artefacts and had to guess the jobs undertaken by the person who owned everything in the box. Some children were then selected to dress as the character. They were then asked to rank them in order of importance in the 12th century. It was a fabulous way for the children to learn more about castles and the types of jobs people had at that time.
