Sat 25 Mar 2017 Lee Shilton

Once again the children, parents and staff amaze us with their fund-raising prowess!  They have raised a whopping £882.88 to help children and families around the world. The entire school community are incredibly proud of this achievement.  There were a variety of approaches used to raise this money:

    1) Cake sale during the extended afternoon break.

    2) Covering a number of red noses with coins (13 in total!)

    3) Buying red noses themselves.

    4) Non-uniform day

Thu 12 Jan 2017 Lee Shilton
Emma Wiggs is a Paralympic gold medal winner and five-time World Champion paracanoeist in the women's 200m KL2 class. We were all totally inspired by Emma who taught us that anything is possible if we remember our ABC! (Attitude, Belief and Challenge). We look forward to welcoming Emma to our school again later in the year!
  • Christmas Tree Festival

Fri 09 Dec 2016 Hazel Mills

Year 6 children have been decorating a tree to be included in the Christmas Tree Festival held at West Bridgford Methodist Church. Our tree commemorates the Christmas Truce of 1914 when, for just one day all across the front, men from both side emerged from the trenches and met in No Man’s Land to exchange gifts and play football.

A symbolic moment of peace and common humanity in an otherwise devastatingly violent war.

There will be 40 trees on display and the Festival is open to the public over the next two weekends.

Twelve lucky children from Year 5 and 6 had the opportunity to work on a whole day art project led by Belinda Poon on the theme of Sport and Recreation in Rushcliffe. The children focused on images of Trent Bridge Cricket Ground and produced beautiful layered collage images inspired by photographs.

  • Superhero day a success at Lady Bay!

Fri 02 Dec 2016 Lee Shilton

Everybody at Lady Bay had a fabulous day on Friday 2nd December when they dressed up as superheroes!  All of the children (and some staff) looked fabulous!

The children certainly used their 'Powers for Good' throughout the day, but particularly when they visited the Year 6 classrooms for their fundraiser.  I would like to thank the Year 6 children who helped to raise awareness of the unacceptability of any form of bullying at Lady Bay by organising entertaining workshops of activities.  Here the children got to play fun games whilst, more importantly, learning about Anti-Bullying and the need to use their 'Power for Good' to help everyone in the school community to stay safe and free from bullying.  A special mention to the winners of The Best Dressed Superhero and The Anti-bullying Superhero poster competition winners(Pictured holding chocolate!)

Please watch this space for details of the next Anti-Bullying fundraiser.  Additionally, if you feel that you child in experiencing bullying or is unhappy in any way, please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher or Mr. Shilton.

  • Rutland win first Dragon's reward!

Wed 02 Nov 2016 Lee Shilton

Congratulations to RUTLAND for winning the most Dragon's gold in the first half-term.  It was a closely fought contest, and the final results were as follows:

    Rutland: 526

    Adbolton: 503

    Trent: 512

    Pierrepont: 422

    Seymour: 484

Their reward was a visit from 'Hawks of Steele', a bird of prey display company.  The children had a thoroughly amazing time meeting a variety of feathered-friends, including Gus, the golden eagle!  Comments were heard from the children, such as, "This was my best day ever!", "I have never done anything like this before!" and "I have always wanted to handle birds of prey!".  The next reward is "Lady Bay Goes to the Movies" and will take place at the end of the half term.  Well done all!

Wed 19 Oct 2016 Lee Shilton
It was lovely to see Terry Rogers again visit us and do 2 assemblies in Key Stage 1 and 2.  As a school, we raised over £80 and Jessica Sewell did a car boot sale all by herself as well!  Well done all!  Terry was extremely appreciative.  He will be coming again in December.
