Lady Bay children during the Harvest assemblies!
Thu 05 Oct 2017We had an excellent Harvest presentation on Thursday 5th October in the Lower School Hall. The children shared art work, poetry and their beautiful singing voices! We were joined by Jenny Jones, a deacon who provided us with an informative speech all about the importance of the Harvest Festival for people in the local and wider community. Once again, we were amazed by vast quantities of donations provided by our generous parents and children. -
Jeans for Genes day a roaring success!
Fri 22 Sep 2017We have had an excellent week preparing for 'Jeans for Genes day' across the school.  We have had assemblies raining children's awareness of genetic disorders and the children have raised £383.99 towards this amazing cause.  All of the money raised will go towards helping children and families living with genetic disorders.  Example of this include; research into genetic disorders, equipment to help enhance people's lives or money to enable families to have trips/holidays.  I am sure you agree, this is a superb cause.  We are all incredibly proud of the children and their families at Lady Bay.  Well done all! -
Maths Ambassador Trip to Nottingham University
Thu 20 Jul 2017Lady Bay Maths Ambassadors visit to Nottingham University
Â
The Maths ambassadors were treated to an excellent trip to Nottingham University Maths on Thursday 20th July.  They had a tour of the campus, listened to two fascinating 'maths-related' talks delivered by PhD students and created posters which they shared with professors from the university.  We were all really proud of their nerveless performances!  I would like to thank Maddy who was our Maths Ambassador from last year who did all of the organising.  She is excited about working with us in the future.

Art Exhibition a great success on Tuesday 4th July
Tue 04 Jul 2017The children have produced some excellent pieces of artwork under the guidance of Hazel and all of the staff. All of the children's work was framed and put on display in the Lower School Hall in the form of an art exhibition. Parents were then able to buy their child's piece of work and order extra copies. Â We should thank the diligence and hard work of Louise Warren and Hazel to get the exhibition up and running! Â Enjoy the photographs below: -

Rushcliffe Arena Art Exhibition
Thu 30 Mar 2017Â
Three of our Year 6 pupils attended the opening launch of the Arena Art Exhibition in the foyer of Rushcliffe Arena which was officially opened by the Mayor of Rushcliffe. The artwork has been completed by children from 15 local schools and has been created in order to celebrate Nottingham as England's 'Home of Sport'. A group of 12 children from Lady Bay produced art work on two of Rushcliffe's notable buildings, namely Trent Bridge Cricket Pavilion and the brand new Rushcliffe Arena. If you are going to visit in the Easter holidays why not take a look - the exhibition runs until Thursday 20th April.

Science Week 2017
Tue 28 Mar 2017During National Science Week 13th-17th March each class spent a morning or afternoon doing five different experiments. Children in KS1 enjoyed trying to make their parrots rock and catching rainbows. Year 3 worked with a mixture that sometimes behaves as a solid and sometimes a liquid. The two Year 4 classes enjoyed launching their exploding rockets and the Year 5 pupils found out what yeast needs to grow. At the end of the week the Year 6 children learnt about DNA and extracted it from kiwi fruit followed by the enjoyable task of making a sweet model of the structure of DNA.
We were also delighted to have three parents who came in to talk to the children about how science is involved in their work. The children learnt about how some parts of the brain work, why aeroplanes are able to fly and how chromatography is used to identify chemicals.
Many thanks to all the parents who helped out in any way during the week.
