  • Be Ready – Foundation trip to Manor Far

    Thu 23 Apr 2026

The children in Foundation went on a fantastic trip to Manor Farm to support their topic of ‘On the Farm’. The children met lots of different animals you would expect to see on a farm and they met a snake too. They also watched a bird of prey demonstration which they all thoroughly enjoyed. A super way to enrich the topic. Thank you to the staff for organising and to the parent helpers who came to support the trip.

  • Be Ready – year 4 trip to the Mosque

    Thu 23 Apr 2026

As part of our unique offering, our children attend a different faith centre each year through their journey at Lady Bay Primary. This is a great way to bring Religious Education to life and to see what people from that faith do whilst at their faith centre. In year 4, the children visit a Mosque. Whilst at the Mosque, the Iman gave a talk on the 5 pillars of Islam, what a pilgrimage is and how Muslims pray at the Mosque. The children were incredibly respectful and asked fantastic questions. It was a great way to reinforce their understanding and bring learning to life.

  • Be Ready – Year 2 trip to NTU

    Thu 23 Apr 2026

The children in year 2 had a fantastic trip to Nottingham Trent University this week. They explored the outside environment at the university looking for signs of Spring. They took part in a treasure hunt around the gardens and also had a science talk form some of the Science students. The children really enjoyed the trip and it was a great way to enrich the science curriculum and to continue our ongoing relationship with Nottingham Trent University.

  • Be Ready – Girls’ football match and tournament

    Thu 23 Apr 2026

The girls in year 5 and 6 have had a busy week of football. The girls played against Abbey Road on Monday and although they lost, played some excellent football. Yesterday, we took 2 teams to the Rushcliffe Spring tournament. Both teams played really well and enjoyed their afternoon. The year 6 team drew one game and were narrowly defeated in the other games. The year 5 team were close contenders in their group but didn’t quite get through. A superb afternoon of football. Thanks to Ms Hewitt for taking the team and to the parents for supporting the girls and for offering lifts too.

  • Be Kind – Assembly this week

    Thu 23 Apr 2026

This week, our senior leader assembly was focussed on the protected characteristic of religion or belief and the British Values of mutual respect and tolerance. I started by asking the children why they felt it was important that we learnt about different religions at school. George, in year 3, stated, “So we know what people do and how they celebrate festivals and their beliefs”. Nancy, in year 4 stated, “So we do not discriminate against people due to their belief, faith, religion or god.” Two really sensible and mature responses. We then focused on the Jewish festival of Passover.   We talked about where the term ‘Passover’ came from and discussed what they knew about the story of Moses. We discussed how Jewish people celebrate Passover and why it is an important time It was a really interesting assembly and a great way to share how Jewish people celebrate their faith

  • Growing together – PJ day for the reading reward

    Fri 17 Apr 2026

It was great to see the majority of children wearing their pyjamas  The children have worked incredibly hard to read lots at home. Every read has been tracked by the class teachers and to reach their goal, every child needed to read at least 4 times per week. This has really engaged the children with their reading. Thank you to Mrs. James for oragansing and for raising the profile of reading in school.

  • Be Ready – Year1 trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park

    Fri 17 Apr 2026

To support their topic on Animals, the children in year 1 visited the Yorkshire Wildlife Park yesterday and what an incredible day it was. The Year 1 children enjoyed a fabulous day out at Yorkshire Wildlife Park! The sun was shining and all the animals came out to enjoy the sunshine. We were so lucky. The children managed to control their escalating excitement levels whilst seeing Polar Bears, Leopards, Giraffes and Lions very close up! We even got to enjoy seeing a baby Wallaby in the mother’s pouch.

It was rewarding to see all the children enjoying the day and observe their facial expressions as they bravely touched a Corn Snake, held a Hissing Cockroach and a Giant Snail.  The behaviour of all the children was fantastic and they can be very proud of themselves. Thank you for your smiles, interesting contributions to discussions on different animals and your positivity throughout the day!  We are looking forward to our next trip already

    Fri 17 Apr 2026

The year 3 team were blown away by the quality of the homework this week. There was a superb mix of PowerPoint presentations, posters, models and information on a range of volcanoes form around the world. The children clearly worked incredibly hard on these at home and it really reinforced their understanding of their geography topic. Thank you to all the parents who supported their children with these amazing pieces of work.
