Be Ready – Lady Bay going to Wembley
Thu 07 May 2026As you will no doubt be aware, the boys’ football team have had an incredible season and remain unbeaten. Winning the regional finals in March booked their place playing at Wembley on Monday 25th May. The EFL have said that they can pay £850 towards the transport costs. However, the coach there and back is going to cost us £2000. We are hoping over the next couple of weeks to run a fundraising event to try to support the cost for the parents. If you are in a position to support these, please do. In addition to this, we have set up a JustGiving page which Notts County have agreed to share on their channels. If you are in a postion to be able to help and wold like to do so, the link is below. Thank you in advance from the boys as they are very excited to go. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/ladybay-primaryschoolwembley
In addition to this, they played Ruddington St Peters in the Rushcliffe Large School cup on Monday. The boys were excellent again. They convincingly won the game 3-0 and are now in both school cup semi-finals. Well done boys.

Growing together – OPAL
Thu 07 May 2026We were very excited this week to welcome the parents in to hear about the benefits of OPAL play and to have some time seeing how lunchtimes are set up and to play with their children. Thank you to the Behaviour and Curriculum leaders who also spoke to the parents about their experience of OPAL on the day. It was a really positive event and we had really food attendance on both days. It was also great to speak to parents as they were exploring the playgrounds and to hear what they thought. Thank you to all the parents who took the time to fill in the feedback book too. There were so many amazing comments and it shows how much everyone is valuing high quality play at Lady Bay.

Thu 07 May 2026A huge well done and good luck to Ollie for his upcoming charity bide. Ollie usually rides 5 miles but he is extending this to a 33-mile ride for charity. Ollie will be cycling back form Grantham along the canal. He has been so inspired by Terry coming in to talk to the children that he is raising money for the Guide Dogs. Ollie had a target of £200 but has smashed that and is already on over £550. Go Ollie!!

Be Ready – year 5 making bread
Thu 07 May 2026The children in year 5 had a great time this week making bread. This was part of their Greek food topic. The children learnt how to make pitta breads. They worked collaboratively to follow the instructions and the outcomes were brilliant. This leads into their topic on Ancient Greeks for history and myths for English. Well done year 5 – looks delicious.

Be Kind – Assembly this week
Thu 07 May 2026This week, our senior leader assembly was focussed on the positive and negative impacts of screen time. As you can imagine, lots of children had a view on this and it sparked a really good discussion in the assembly. We thought about the positives that using screens can bring. The main positives were: using it for research, watching something to find out more about a subject that you enjoy, for talking and playing with friends and helps when they are bored. The main drawbacks were: the impact on your eyes, people spending too much time on them and becoming addicted. George, in year 3, stated, “Too much screen time can affect your eyes and can mean you don’t go out and play with your friends’.
