Eco Committee

WELCOME TO THE LADY BAY PRIMARY SCHOOL ECO COMMITTEE PAGE.

Lady Bay School has always done its best to care for the environment, with the help of its wonderfully supportive local community.  We are delighted to be participating in the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award Scheme, as well as helping the school reduce its single-use plastic with the Plastic Free Schools initiative.  Committee meetings occur every half term, and members represent Years 2 to 6 with representatives from Year 1 joining in the summer term. We also have litter pickers who help keep our playground free from rubbish.

Now that our school garden is opening to all children through OPAL play we have added some signs to help protect our pond, plants and hedgehog houses!

The bulbs planted by the Eco Committee are bursting into life! We are now having some big conversations about plastics around the school which we have found in the planters!

The Eco Committee have been making their commitments to 'Cut Your Carbon' November this week as well as teaming up with the gardening club to plant daffodil bulbs ready for spring.

Cut Your Carbon Novermber!

The updated Eco display championing some of the incredible books on how we can all work to tackle the challenges facing our planet!

This Thursday we welcomed our new Eco Committee who got their badges and made a great start planting up two of the beds which were weeded by the gardening club next year. They also reused the plastic pots to all take home a spider plant.
