  • Caring for the environment – Assembly this week

    Tue 03 Feb 2026

In our assembly, we talked to the children about the environment. I posed the question to them – What impact are humans having on the environment and how do we know? We also talked about changes we can make. We used this as a starting point for discussion and it was great to see how knowledgeable they all were. My favourite quote was, “We learn about the environment so we know how to make a positive change in the future.” We also shared with the children information about the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch between the 23rd and 25th January. We talked the importance of it and why they believe the RSPB do it and also shared how we can take part too. If anyone wants a spare sheet, we have some in the office.

The children tried olives, sundried tomatoes, brie, tzatziki, hummus and breads from different countries.it was a great session and a great way to introduce their new topic.

  • Be Ready – Foundation Christmas show

    Fri 19 Dec 2025

It was a pleasure to go to the Foundation Christmas show this week. The children have been working really hard to learn their lines and to sing confidently in front of an audience. It was great to see the different elements of Christmas in the show. Thank you to all the parents who came to the show (the hall was packed) and for providing lovely costumes. Thank you to the staff for working with the children to put on such a lovely show. Finally, a huge thank you to the children in Foundation. They have settled in really well and are a super year group.

  • Growing together – Lower school trip to the Panto

    Fri 19 Dec 2025

The children in years 1, 2 and 3 enjoyed a trip to the Playhouse Panto this week. We were a little worried when they arrived as they told us 3 of their main actors were ill. Thankfully the show still went on and the children had a fantastic time. It is always a highlight on the lower school calendar and it did not disappoint. Thank you to the staff for organising and to the parents who were able to help out on the day.

    Fri 19 Dec 2025

The children in foundation enjoyed a trip to the Lakeside theatre this week. The children watched The Littlest Yak. It was a lovely story about friendship, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. The children all behaved brilliantly and were a credit to Lady Bay. Thanks to the staff for organising and to the parents who came as helpers.

  • Be Ready – KS2 Christmas sing

    Fri 19 Dec 2025

Thank you to all the parents who were able to attend the Key Stage 2 sing on Tuesday afternoon. It was lovely to see so many of you joining in with the singing too. Thankfully, we managed to miss the rain and it was a lovely afternoon. The children all looked great in their festive attire. They have worked really hard this year to learn all the songs and they all tried their very best during the performance. Thank you to the parents in year 6 who gave up their time to sell mince pies and mulled wine (they raised £228.51 for the year 6 end of year party) and to all those who supported them by buying one too. A lovely festive afternoon.

  • Be Ready – Year 6 Maya Museum

    Fri 05 Dec 2025

Wow, another fantastic Mayan museum. Thank you to all the year 6 parents who came to the museum. The level of work and effort from the children was truly outstanding. They were all so knowledgeable about their subject areas and they all have clearly learnt a lot about the Mayans. It was clear to see the parents really enjoying all the games that the children created. Another super leadership and presentation opportunity for the children and a great way of ensuring the children retaining what they are learning. Thanks to the year 6 team for organising the event.

  • Be Ready – Year 3 Egyptian Day

    Fri 05 Dec 2025

Wow, what a fantastic day year 3 had this week and what a great way to bring the subject to life. The children were all very excited for their Egyptian day. Cleopatra lead the day and told the children about what sorts of things they would have been doing if they were a boy or girl in Ancient Egyptian times. They learnt how to mummify a body and what process the Ancient Egyptians took to mummify pharaoh. The children also made papayas paper and played a game from Ancient Egyptian times. A super day and it was great to hear how much the children enjoyed it too. Well done year 3

  • Be ready – Year 5 and 6 Boys’ football

    Fri 05 Dec 2025

The boys’ football team attended a Notts County tournament this week at the University of Nottingham. The prize for being the winners was to represent Notts County in a regional tournament in the Spring term. The winners of that get to play at Wembley (very exciting). The boys played some outstanding football. They won all their group games, won the semi-final 3-0 and then the final 2-0 and didn’t concede a goal all afternoon. They are all very excited to represent Notts County in the tournament in spring – well done boys
