Be Ready – Science week
Fri 14 Mar 2025We have been very lucky and excited to welcome lots of parents in this week to talk to the children during Science Week. It is always a fascinating week and brilliant that parents give up their time to talk to the children about the jobs they do. We started off the week with Dr Irving talking to the children about the human body. He delivered 2 assemblies for years 3,4 ,5 and 6 and discussed a range of topics. He told the children the different functions of the organs. It was really informative and the children asked lots of questions. Mr Gordon came in to talk to the children in year 2 about light and how cameras can be used in science to detect problems inside the human body. Mr Dickinson spoke to the children in year 6 about aerospace engineering and his work at Rolls Royce. Mr Hodkinson delivered a session to the year 5 children about MRIs and the human brain. Our last speaker was Mr Beriro who delivered two assemblies to the children in key stage 2 about Geology.
Some really fascinating talks which the children thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you so much to all the parents who gave up their time to deliver them. If there are any other parents working in different areas of science that would like to come and talk to the children, please contact us as the children learn so much from these sessions. Sorry I couldn’t include pictures from all the
sessions.

Growing together – OPAL play
Fri 14 Mar 2025What a lovely week of weather! OPAL is so nice in the sunshine. The children are all really enjoying OPAL and it is clear to see by their interactions on the playground. It is so lovely to see the mixture of age groups and it seems to be having a positive impact on relationships between the children. We are certainly seeing positives with the types of play being seen too. Thank you for the donation of the sink and to Mr, Middleton for installing the sink in the mud kitchen.
We are still open for any donations you may have. We are looking for the following –
Wellies of different sizes
Suitcases and pushchairs (as they are very popular)
Wheelbarrows
Any den making material
Thank you for your ongoing support with OPAL and for everything that has been donated so far.
This week’s pictures show the girls in year 4 having some chill time in their den and a group of year 1 children enjoying the mud kitchen – very messy hands.

Growing together – Leadership opportunities
Fri 14 Mar 2025Our children have started their leadership roles this week. It was great to see the children in their play leader bibs supporting other children with play. We will be giving the children further training but to start with they are selecting the zones they want to support with. It was also fantastic to see the librarians in action this week. The children busily sorted the books in the upper and lower school. We also had our litter pickers working hard to try to keep the site litter free. It feels an endless task at times as so much gets blown on to the playground but they all feel passionately about keeping the site litter free.
