Be Ready (Enrichment) – year 6 trip to Gurdwara
Fri 02 May 2025The children in year 6 enjoyed a trip to the Gurdwara this week to reinforce their understanding of how Sikh people follow their faith. The children learnt about their traditions, how they pray and what a typical day would be for a Sikh person. As mentioned previously, we ensure that every year group has a trip to a faith centre. This is to ensure that we teach tolerance and understanding so they know how people of different faiths live their life in the community in which they live.

Growing together – OPAL play
Fri 02 May 2025We have reached the end of the first term of OPAL lunchtimes. We have successfully managed to change the whole structure of lunchtime so all children have their lunchtime together between 12-1. This has been a logistical challenge but one that has been hugely beneficial as we are now able to have all children having the same lunchtime together. We will be reviewing the offering over Easter and looking at what we can do to make lunchtimes even more fun.
We are still open for any donations but are particular looking for:
Scooters
Den making material
This week’s photos include so very messy mud pie making and some children who are ready for their Easter holiday already and heading abroad.

Growing together – Orchestra Day
Fri 02 May 2025We collaborate with 14 other schools who are all non-academy schools. We share practice, attend moderations and have different networks to support our leaders. As part of this group, we are looking at ways to enrich our offering across the schools. This week, children in year 6 attended Jesse Gray for an Orchestra Day. This was an excellent opportunity for our confident musicians to attend an event and showcase their skills. The children came together to learn a piece which they shared with parents at the end of the day. A fantastic event enjoyed by all who attended.

Be Ready – Assembly this week
Fri 02 May 2025This week, Nikki, Christine and Ronaldo from All Hallows visited the school. They spoke to the children about the Easter story and the different emotions people would have felt at different parts of the story. The children were all very knowledgeable about the story and were able to reflect on the emotions felt at the time. We are really pleased that we have such a good relationship with All Hallows and thankful that the continue to support us in delivering our performances. The also introduced Ronaldo to the children who is the new youth worker at the church.

Be Ready (Enrichment) – Year 1 visit Yorkshire Wildlife Park
Fri 02 May 2025A fabulous day out at Yorkshire Wildlife Park! The sun was shining and all the animals came out to enjoy the sunshine! We were so lucky! You all managed to control your escalating excitement levels whilst seeing Polar Bears, Cheetahs, Giraffes and Lions up very close! We even got to enjoy seeing baby Wallabies in the mother’s pouches!
It was most rewarding to see you all enjoying your day and watch your facial expressions as you bravely touched a Corn Snake and held a Hissing Cockroach and Giant Snail. Your behaviour was fantastic and you can all be proud of yourselves. Thank you for your smiles, interesting contributions to discussions on different animals and your positivity throughout the day! We are looking forward to our next trip already!

Caring for each other – Football fundraising
Fri 14 Mar 2025Thank you to all the parents who supported the cake sale and for those that wore football shirts today. The girls’ team are all very thankful. We wore the shirts today to celebrate girls’ football as last Friday was the Biggest Ever Girls’ Football Day but pupils were not in school due to the INSET so we wanted to mark it this week. The cake sale raised £300 and £296 has been raised so far, today. This means you have helped us to cover the cost of the mini-bus for the match next week in Birmingham and 75% of the new kit for the girl’s team – amazing news. Thank you to Isha, Naiya and Humaira who went the extra mile today and added a game of guess the sweets. We also have penalties being taken at the end of the school day. A super day at Lady Bay.

Be Ready (Enrichment) – Year 3 India Day
Fri 14 Mar 2025It was fantastic to welcome back Sunita to deliver the year 3 India Day this week. Sunita has been coming to deliver the India day for over 10 years. It is always a fantastic day which the children thoroughly enjoy. The children have been learning about Hinduism and this enrichment day helps them bring some of their learning to life. They learnt lots about different types of clothes worn in India, some amazing Indian Dance and some really interesting Hindu stories. A super day for all of year 3.
