Amazing Addition!

Children in every year group have spent some of their time in the Autumn term working on addition, and this has been celebrated on our maths display board! It is exciting to see such a clear progression of skills through the school: from very early steps in Foundation, where children learn to count objects and combine two groups; through the infants and into Year 3 as children use resources such as Base 10 to represent numbers and make exchanges from ones to tens when adding in order to begin to use the column method; and through into the upper juniors where children apply their understanding to larger numbers, and apply their skills to solve a range of problems.
