WORLD BOOK DAY
Lots of fun was shared with our friends and buddies dressing up for World Book Day as a favourite book character!
The great year 6 American cookie baking afternoon
We had an exciting afternoon making cookies in the Dragons diner all together. We had to follow the recipe method carefully and weigh out the ingredients. We then evaluated the final product and rated the appearance and taste of our cookies! Yum!
North American Art day
We had a go at Native American sand painting inspired by the Navajo people. Historically, once the sand painting was complete, an individual who was suffering from an illness had to lie down on top of the painting as part of a healing ritual.
We also made dream catchers- a tradition which started with the Ojibwe tribe. These were originally placed above children’s beds to catch bad dreams and protect the child.
Gymnastics
Lots of practice trying to improve our partner counter balances and counter tension balances this week!
All the fun of the fair
Making fairground rides in DT was great fun!
Safety Zone 2023
We enjoyed an informative visit at the National Water sports centre where we learned more about how to keep ourselves safe in a range of situations and environments - on the roads, the railways, in the home and around water!
Tennis lessons at our local club
We continue to improve our tennis skills with coach Amelia at Lady Tennis club as part of our PE curriculum.
Role play
In groups, we enacted a scene from our Mayan story book ‘Rainplayer’. The main character, Pik, has to try to persuade his friends to join in a challenge!
Playing the Ancient Mayan game of Pok-ta-tok
Using a set of rules, we worked in groups to figure out the rules and strategy of playing Pok ta tok.
