• Enjoyment – Rutland’s Dragon Reward

  Well done to Rutland House who collected the most Dragon’s Gold this half term. The children were treated to a skateboard and scooter stunt workshop. The children learnt how to ride the scooters and skateboards safely and even learnt some tricks too. A really lovely treat. Thank you to all of Rutland for your hard work this half term.

  

• Enjoyment – LBSA disco

  It was so lovely to see so many children at the LBSA disco this week. It was fantastic to see all the foundation, year 1 and year 2 children enjoying all the party games and lots of the children won super prizes. It was also great to see so many of the key stage 2 children too (over 160 of them). Thank you to the LBSA for organising the event. Thank you to all the parents and staff who gave up their time to support at the disco and to the children who were able to come. A lovely evening.

  

• Caring for the environment – Eco Committee

  Eco committee have been thinking about Eco friendly food tips.  We encourage people to think about moving towards a more plant-based diet and have found some recipes for carrot stew, protein pots and vegan brownies.  We also discovered that we throw away 7 million tonnes of food and drink every year in the UK and the foods that we waste the most are fresh vegetables and salad and fruit.  Here's our Year 4 rep with a recipe book for using up food leftovers.  For example, you could peel over-ripe bananas and freeze them.  Once thawed, mash them to make banana cake or banana bread.  Delicious.

  

• Curiosity – Computing curriculum showcase

  Parents have enjoyed the opportunity to find out about the computing curriculum on offer in Year 6. Children have worked with their parents to showcase the wide range of skills they have learnt this year including creating their own websites, control technology using Micro:bits and 3D modelling. There is one more session on May 17th at 3:30 if you would like to attend. 

  

• Enjoyment and Enrichment – Year 3 trip to Creswell Crags

  The children in year 3 thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Creswell Crags. They took part in a range of activities including going into the caves and being archaeologists looking at different bones. They managed to dodge the rain (mostly) and they were all really excited about their adventure.

  

• Determination – Girls’ and Boy’s football team

  Firstly, a huge well done to the boys who attended the tournament on Saturday. The boys showed great determination making it to the semi-final. Unfortunately, the boys were knocked out on penalties. Thank you to Mr. Shelley for supporting and coaching at the event.

   

  Both the boys and girls made the final this year. I wanted to start by saying how proud we are of all of them for showing such collaboration and determination to make it to the final. The girls played Tollerton who have not lost a game all season and in the national finals. They played incredibly well and it was an incredibly tense game. The final result was 3-1 to Tollerton and their coach said it was their toughest game of the season by far. Well done to all the amazing girls who were part of the team.

  The boys played Robert Miles Junior School. It was also an incredibly tense game. Unfortunately, the boys lost 2-1. All the children involved represented the school in an amazing way and absolutely deserved to be competing in the finals. I will add a picture of the girls’ team to the newsletter next week

  

• Determination – Boccia and Kurling festival

  Well done to the children who attended the Boccia and Kurling festival this week. The children played against 14 other schools and all tried their hardest. Thank you to Mrs. Wells and Mrs Davies for supporting the children. They both said how well-behaved and engaged all the children were.

  

• Enjoyment and Enrichment – Orienteering festival for year 5 children

  Well done to the children in year 5 who attended the orienteering festival this week. The children visited Rushcliffe Country Park and were set the task of using a map to find certain points around the park. The children all thoroughly enjoyed the festival and thank you to Mrs Zelynskyj for taking them and arranging the trip.

  

• Enjoyment and Enrichment – Year 1 trip to Warwick Castle

  The children in Year 1 had a fantastic time at Warwick Castle on Tuesday. They bravely walked along the walls and climbed up to the top of a tower. They also found out lots about the history of the castle. In the afternoon they watched a magnificent bird of prey show followed by an exciting performance with a working trebuchet. To top off a brilliant day, they all met Zog!

  

• Determination – Girls’ and Boy’s football te

  Firstly, a huge well done to the boys’ football team this week. We had our Large Schools Cup semi-final against West Bridgford Juniors. It was a really tough game but the boys came out on top winning 1-0. The winning goal came from a deflected shot from William and after some impressive defending, that was enough to win the game. The boys are in the final next Thursday, 5pm at Ruddington St Peters.

   

  A massive well done to the girls this week too. On Saturday, the girls entered the Ruddington St Peters tournament. The all showed amazing determination and collaboration and reached the final. Unfortunately, they came up against a very good Tollerton side and lost 2-0. An amazing effort form all the girls and thank you to Mrs Hewitt for taking them.

   

  The girls also had their quarter final cup match against Robert Miles Junior School. The girls played exceptionally well and won 11-0. They are all very excited for their semi-final on Tuesday and hopefully we can have an all Lady Bay final on Thursday.

   

  A fantastic week of football for Lady Bay.
