Enjoyment and Determination – Year 5 make a Ancient Greek vase
Mon 20 May 2024It was great to pop into the year 5 classrooms this week and see them working on their Ancient Greek Vases. They all designed a super pattern, which included some of the Ancient Greek gods. It has been a very tricky process for the children, but they have all shown great determination and worked really well as a team. A super effort year 5.

Curiosity – Patron of reading visit
Mon 20 May 2024We were delighted to welcome Alan McDonald back into school this week. Alan worked with children across school. Year 5 enjoyed a character workshop with Alan and year 6 had a question and answer session on life as a author. We engage with a Patron of Reading to try to capture and develop the children’s love of reading and to inspire them through literature.

Enjoyment – Year 3 trip to Creswell Crags
Mon 20 May 2024The children in year 3 enjoyed a trip to Creswell Crags this week. They had the opportunity to explore the caves, which was very exciting. They acted as paleontologists and also learnt a variety of survival skills. It was a fantastic trip and lots of fun for all the children. They all behaved really well and were a credit to the school. Well done year 3.

Enjoyment and Collaboration – EYFS and year 2 add to the community art project
Mon 20 May 2024The children in year 2 and EYFS all had the opportunity to make their squares for the community quilt this week. They all had a super time at All Hallows and some of the designs were fantastic. I am sure the finished quilt – which will be displayed on the Arts trail – will be quite the spectacle.

Enjoyment – Boccia festival
Mon 20 May 2024Well done to the children who attended the Boccia festival this week. The children learn the rules to Boccia and played against other schools. They also played some curling. It was a great way to practice the fundamentals and improve their accuracy too. A super festival and the children were a credit to the school.

Enjoyment – Year 1 trip to Warwick Castle
Mon 20 May 2024What a lovely day for a trip and what lovely weather they had too! The children in year 1 had a super trip to Warwick Castle this week. The children all thoroughly enjoyed the whole day and have been talking about it ever since. The children have been learning about castles and it was an opportunity for them to see all the parts of a castle in real life. They had a fantastic bird of prey demonstration and thoroughly enjoyed the Zog adventure playground too.

Curiosity – year 6 science
Tue 07 May 2024I popped into year 6 this week to see what they were learning about in science. It was fantastic to see them all really enjoying their learning and exploring Darwin’s work on different finch’s beaks. Darwin looked at why different species of finch had evolved on different islands to suit the habitat/environment on that island. The children had different ‘beaks’ to test which were the most effective at moving items between bowls. A really interesting lesson which sparked lots of interesting discussion.

Curiosity – Year 5 Computing
Tue 07 May 2024It was really interesting talking to the year 5 children about their work in computing. They were all very knowledgeable about the subject and could explain why vector drawings are used for making logos. They were using PowerPoint to create their own vector drawings. It has been a difficult project for them especially trying to create the fading in the colours. This is one that Jessica has been working on.

Enjoyment and Curiosity – Year 1 trip to All Hallows church
Tue 07 May 2024The children in year 1 enjoyed a trip to the church this week. The children leant about the different areas within the church and talked about what it means to be a Christian. They listened to some stories and sang some songs too. It was a lovely afternoon, which the children really enjoyed, The children also learnt about Christian traditions and what it means to be baptised
