Well done to the children who attended the in multi-sports festival this week with Mrs Wells and Ms Davies. The children took part in a range of sports including basketball, bocca and football. Well done to all those who attended.

  • Be Ready – Year 6 girls’ trip to Nottingham University

    Mon 16 Mar 2026

Last Friday, the girls in year 6 were invited to Nottingham University to celebrate the win of England Women’s Rugby team in the World Cup. The girls found out about the World Cup trophy, its design process and the history of it. The girls also were able to take a photo with it too. They then were treated to a rugby coaching session delivered by rugby playing students from Nottingham University. Another superb and unique experience given to our children.

  • Be Ready – World Book Day

    Mon 09 Mar 2026

What a fantastic day we had for World Book Day. The effort from the children and staff was fantastic and the outfits were brilliant. The day was a real celebration of books. We shared with them all the amazing entries for the extreme reader competition. Thank you to all the parents who supported this. We are in the process of picking the winners. Thank you to Luxfer Gas who sponsored the competition and provided the prizes. They have also donated £250 for new non-fiction texts which the children will be picking. We also showed the children the masked readers. Members of staff read extracts of books and the children had to guess who was behind the mask. They all loved chanting ‘Take it off!’ when it was the big reveal. We are hoping to share these on the website. It was such a great atmosphere all day. Thank you to all the staff, children and parents for making the day special.

  • Be Safe and Be Kind – Assembly this week

    Mon 09 Mar 2026

This week, we focussed our assemblies on the Muslin festival of Ramadan. We started by discussing the link between learning about Ramadan and the protected characteristic or Religion and belief and the British Values of Tolerance and Mutual Respect. My favourite quote from the assembly was from a child in year 4 who stated, “We learn about religions so we know how other people celebrate their faith. It is important so we don’t discriminate against people due to their religion when we are older.” Powerful words. We also discussed why the children thought it was important to learn about cultures and religious or beliefs of people who live in our country. We discussed what Muslim people do during Ramadan and why fasting and charity during this time is so important. It was also great to see children of other faiths drawing comparisons to their own faith when we talked about Eid and celebrations at the end of Ramadan. A really engaging topic.

  • Be Ready – Year 5 trip to the Space Centre

    Mon 09 Mar 2026

The children in year 5 visited the National Space Centre this week to support their topic on Space. They visited the Planetarium where they leant about the solar system. They looked around the exhibits and also took part in some experiments too. Thank you to the staff for organising, to all the parents for supporting the trip and for the parent helpers who attended. A fantastic day.

  • Be Ready – Orchestrafest at Jesse Gray

    Mon 09 Mar 2026

We are part of the RMSA (Rushcliffe Maintained School Alliance) with 14 other schools in the Rushcliffe area. This is a support network where we share practice and support development in schools through high-quality CPD. We also use the alliance to enhance opportunities in the wider curriculum. This week, George, Seb and Chung Wai attended Orchestrafest at Jesse Gray. Children had to be grade 1 or above and be able to read music to attend. They worked together with children from across the RMSA to compose a piece of music together. It was a brilliant day and a great way for the three boys to show their musical talent

  • Caring for each other – Rozzy’s assembly

    Mon 09 Mar 2026

A huge well done to Rozzy this week. It is not easy to stand up in front of people and talk and especially when the subject matter is personal to you. Rozzy did a fantastic job this week in a special assembly where she talked about deafness. RozzY talked about her implants and how these help her to hear. She also shared how others can ensure that she hears what they are saying. A really powerful assembly and a really brave effort from Rozzy to lead it.

  • Be Ready – year 1 practical maths

    Mon 09 Mar 2026

It was great to see the year 1s using the outdoor space for maths this week. Their focus was place value and partitioning into tens and ones. As a challenge, some children even managed to partition three-digit numbers. The children made part whole models out of hoops and chalked in the numbers and the hundred, tens and ones representations. A great way to make partitioning fun for the children.

  • Caring for each other – Charity Bake

    Mon 02 Mar 2026

Amelie, Anouk and Connie have spent a long time planning a charity cake and bracelet stall, choosing to donate all proceeds to the RSPCA animal centre in Radcliffe.

After weeks of preparation — making bracelets, planning their bakes and spending a fun afternoon baking together — the girls raised an amazing £180 on the day. Every penny will be donated to the RSPCA to help support the animals in their care.

It was wonderful to see so many friends and children from Lady Bay come along to support them and make donations. A thank you also goes to Issac and Thea for their help, and to Mabel for kindly donating her handmade scrunchies to sell. Well done to the girls, an excellent effort.

  • Be Safe and Be Kind – Assembly this week

    Mon 02 Mar 2026

This week, we focussed our assemblies on OPAL play and reminding the children about the OPAL charter and how we can work together to make OPAL successful at lunchtime. We reminded the children about the school values (Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Ready) and how we can show these during OPAL. We talked about risk management and asked the children to recall the rules when building to ensure they manage risk effectively. This assembly linked to the British Values of mutual respect and tolerance.
