  • Be Ready - KS1 Sports Day

    Mon 21 Jul 2025

As part of Wellness Week, we always look forward to sports day. I am sorry we had to move the Key Stage 2 sports day to next Friday, but having spent the morning down there with Key Stage 1, it was definitely the right decision. Once again, our year 6 children were excellent at running each of the events. There was a great mix of events and the children all thoroughly enjoyed it. It all ran really smoothly and was really well-organised. Thank you to the children in year 6 and to Mrs. Davie for her hard work planning the day. Thank you to all the parents who were able to make it and for those that joined in the parent egg and spoon race.

  • Be Ready (Enjoyment) – Year 2 trip to Sundown

    Mon 21 Jul 2025

Year 2 had a lovely trip to Sundown this week. It is always a fantastic trip and one that the children thoroughly enjoy. They all loved exploring the park and going on the different rides with their friends. They were blessed with lovely weather too. Thank you to the staff for organising and to the parent helpers who supported the trip

  • Growing together – 1JH trip to Wagamama

    Mon 21 Jul 2025

The children in 1Kh had their annual trip to Wagamama this week. It is always a super trip and one the children thoroughly enjoy. They discussed what ingredients go in the food at Wagamama and had the opportunity to look at touch them. The children sampled some vegetables and pickles and created their own juice drinks. The children then tasted some Soba noodles too. They learnt lots of facts about Wagamama – we didn’t realise that Wagamama means ‘naughty’ in Japanese.  There were some very full tummies before their lunch but they all loved it. Thank you to the parent helpers and staff (they all enjoyed a meal too) A lovely way to enrich the D and T curriculum and their understanding of food preparation

  • Growing together – Spanish Day

    Wed 09 Jul 2025

What a fantastic day! Thank you to all the children and staff who wore bright colours today. It was such a lovely day. Some of the Spanish art work today has been incredible.  The children all visited the Spanish Café in the afternoon. They all put their Spanish skills to the test when ordering something from the café. The year 6 children were all brilliant and gave them an opportunity to practice their conversation skills. We were also treated to a lovely after school session with the Spanish guitarist and the cocktail bar. It was a lovely way to end a fantastic week. Thank you to all those who donated money so the children could buy something at the café and for those who bought drinks at the cocktail bar. We will let you know next week how much money was raised for the School of Hope.

  • Growing Together and Be Ready (Reflection) – Assembly on the School for Hope.

    Wed 09 Jul 2025

This week, our assembly focus was on the School for Hope in Guatemala. As you will be aware, the school for hope is one of our partner charities. We welcomed Holly and Rosa from the charity presenting to the children. The children were shown on the world map where Guatemala is and what experiences the children have at their school. They told the children how the money we raise supports children in Guatemala. Every year, we have our Spanish Day and all proceeds from the day go to the School for Hope. We really hope you are able to join us on Friday for our Spanish Day.

  • Be Ready – year 3 D and T work

    Wed 09 Jul 2025

It was great to see so many of the children in year 3 enjoying sewing this week. The children have been through the designing process and thought about what materials they would want on their new cushions. They have made their cushions from their designs this week and will be evaluating them next week. They really have done an amazing job and for a lot of children it was their first experience of sewing. Well done year 3

  • Be Ready – year 5 ‘Bright Time’ Band in a day

    Wed 09 Jul 2025

It was amazing watching what the children produced in year 5 this week. As part of their ‘Bright Time’ offering, the children in year 5 took part in creating an band in a day. We included this and the year 2 xylophones as part of our ‘Bright ‘offering as we know the importance of learning an instrument and applying music to a real-life context. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning and coming a piece of music in a day. Their performance of ‘Dance Monkey’ was incredible. Thank you to Brendon for his support with the day.

  • Be Kind – Year 6 workshop form Unique, Loved Me

    Wed 09 Jul 2025

It was fantastic to welcome Alison Thomas in to speak to the children this week. Alison spoke to the children about what unique means. She asked the children to write things down that they think are unique. She asked the children to think about the question, “what makes me, me?” and to write this down. The children also had a card which they gave to another person and they wrote something nice about them. The children also thought about what they would tell their future self. It was another really thought-provoking workshop and one that all the children enjoyed and took something from. Thank you, Alison.

  • Be Ready (Reflection) – Assembly on discrimination

    Wed 02 Jul 2025

This week, we talked to the children about discrimination and prejudice and the difference between the two. We looked at different scenarios and have the children the chance to discuss them. They explored whether they felt it was discrimination or prejudice. We then looked at specific examples based on the protected characteristics. I asked the children to consider how they would have felt if they had been discriminated against because of their race or gender. It was a very interesting discussion. My favourite quote was from Adalia in year 6 who, whilst talking about prejudice, stated, “We should never judge a book by its cover. We may all look different, but inside we are the same.” A really powerful quote. Finally, we finished the assembly by asking the children to think about why it is important to learn about discrimination and prejudice. We also discussed what lessons can be learnt from the past. A really powerful assembly and one with lots of important dialogue
