Be Safe – Year 6 Road Safety quiz
Mon 16 Jun 2025We welcomed the Road Safety team into school this week. The team talked to the children about how they stay safe in the community. They discussed when and how to cross a road and what hazard they may experience. The children then took part in a quiz to show their understanding. A super session and a great way for the year 6 to reflect on being safe.

Be Ready (Reflection) – Assembly this week
Mon 16 Jun 2025This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Terry and Charlie back in to school. Terry has been coming in to school for over 10 years and has a super relationship with our school. We are the only school he now visits so we are very fortunate. We invite Terry in to reinforce the children’s understanding on the protected characteristics and that we should not discriminate due to disability. Terry came in to raise awareness of blind people in the community and his experiences of when he has visited other countries. He even told the children that some countries do not believe he is blind unless he wears dark glasses. He also talked about the discrimination he has faced due to the fact that he has a guide dog. He has not been able to ride some public transport and not allowed in some buildings. A great assembly and a great way to break down barriers for the children

Growing together – OPA
Wed 04 Jun 2025The OPAL team met this week to discuss all things OPAL and reflect on the successes of the half-term and the next steps for play at Lady Bay. We created a list of games that would be in the games’ zone and we will now have a different game each day. We are still exploring the options for the sand pit. It is quite expensive so we are looking at the best ways to fund it.
This week, the photos were taken by children in year 6. They captured lots of fun play. We have another amazing den form a group of boys and an awesome outfit from the dress-up box.

Growing together – All Stars trip to Trent Bridge
Wed 04 Jun 2025What a fantastic personal development opportunity. 30 of the All Stars spent the day at Trent Bridge yesterday and enjoyed watching England vs Zimbabwe. All the children had the opportunity to play on the pitch during lunch which was amazing. Further to this, 16 of the children were able to be flag bearers when the players entered the pitch. The children were on Sky television too. It really is amazing that we are able to offer such unique and inspiring opportunities to our children. Thank you to all the staff and parents who attended and to Ms Hewitt for her ongoing work fostering our relationship with Trent Bridge and All Stars cricket.

Growing together (Collaboration) – Lady Bay Arts Trail
Wed 04 Jun 2025We had an amazing weekend with so many parents contributing to a wonder ful event with their donations of cakes and time.
We had one gentleman an artist - who attended the school 65 years ago comment how lovely it was to come into the school and see it so full of life. So many people came with their stories of attending or their kids attending and love seeing the school full of life. It was fab seeing the kdis search out their hands and themselves on the Musicworks video which I streamed on the TV.
Despite record donations we sold out of cakes on Saturday and put out a call for more for more donations. Many parents baked twice and a record levels.

Be ready (Determination) – Year 6 Handball festival
Wed 04 Jun 2025A message from Mrs. Davie who took the group to the festival:
This group were a joy to take to the handball festival! They were novices at the start and handball players by the end competing against teams from other schools. They were even asked to demonstrate how they communicated with each other as a team and encouraged each other! I was very proud of them all
