  • A note from Mrs. Hewitt On Sunday, these very luck footballers got the chance to represent Lady Bay School in a football festival organised by Nottingham Forest. There were a very young and enthusiastic squad who all played some excellent football. Their behaviour was fantastic and they were most patient whilst Mrs. Hewitt attempted to rotate her squad of 12 players for a 5-a-sde game. Well done to everyone involved. A big thank you to the parents for their support and to Benjamin and Nate’s dad for being a fabulous coach

  • Be Ready – Assembly this week

    Mon 13 Oct 2025

In our assembly this week, we talked to the children about Black History Month. We made the link to the protected characteristic of Race. I asked the children to think about why we teach children about Black History Month. We also discussed famous people in Black History and who they could remember from previous years. With year 1 and 2, we looked at the impact of Mary Seacole and Rosa Parks why they are remembered during this month. In the year 5 and 6 assembly we looked at the life and work of Pablo Fanque and his impact during Victorian times. We finished the assembly reflecting on why they felt this assembly was important. My favourite quote from the day was from Oscar in year 5. When asked why we teach about Black History he stated, “You are asking us to reflect on the awful things that happened and to make sure we learn from it and not repeat it in the future.” Not sure I could have put it better myself.

You may be aware that we have a new music specialist in school (Mrs Bennett).. We are so pleased with the start she has made and the children are loving the music sessions. It was great that Ofsted were able to see the provision too last week. They were very complimentary about the sessions and felt the expectations that we have are very high. During this session, year 4 were learning about at pentatonic scale and were given some notes for Sweet Chariot. They were set the task to work out the rest. A super lesson.

The teaching was excellent and they felt that the standards that the children were reaching at primary school was amazing. Well done to Senora Lopez for her continued effort. In the picture, you can see Annabelle learning numbers in her lesson in year 4.

We then worked in groups to research and share our ideas about what the Maya civilization have done for us. We thoroughly researched many subjects, such as: agriculture, calendars, astronomy, sports, writing and chocolate. The class used determination and collaboration to create fantastic pieces of work

  • Caring for each other – Wear read for dyslexia awareness

    Tue 07 Oct 2025

Thank you to everyone who came in red to raise the profile of dyslexia awareness in school. On Monday, it is the start of dyslexia awareness week and we always spend time during assemblies talking to the children about it. We have quite a few children who have been diagnosed with dyslexia in school and raising awareness allows them to know that they are not alone and that they will be supported whilst in school. We also like to show them the vast variety of business people and celebrities who have made huge successes in their lives who are dyslexic. Thank you again for supporting an important awareness day.
