    Thu 20 Nov 2025

Well done to all the children who attended the dodgeball festival this week – a great time was had by all. The children played matches against 4 other primary school. They were competitive and gained so much experience about tactical play. Ms Davie said it was so lovely to see the teams thank each other at the end of the game. Great teamwork and great respect shown.

  • Be Kind – Assembly this week

    Thu 20 Nov 2025

In our assembly this week, we talked to the children about Anti-Bullying week. We asked the children to unpick what bullying is and how they would describe it. We talked about the Anti-bullying alliance and their definition having 4 aspects – hurtful, intentional, repetitive and an imbalance of power. We explored each of these and what this might look like in a school. We also talked about a few different scenarios and whether we would describe them as bullying. It was a really interesting assembly and sparked a lot of discussion. We finished by talking about how we can use our ‘Power for Good’ in school. A really thought-provoking assembly.

  • Growing together – Remembrance Day and poppy selling

    Mon 10 Nov 2025

Thank you to the children in year 6 who helped to sell poppies this week. 22 year 6 children gave up their time and we really appreciate their efforts. We haven’t yet sent the donation boxes back as we will still be selling them on Monday before the 11th November. We will be talking to the children about Remembrance Day next week and the whole school will be taking part in a 2-minute silence on Tuesday.

  • Growing together – OPAL

    Mon 10 Nov 2025

We are really looking forward to having the full playground back for OPAL on Monday. It has been a challenge with the reduced space but all the children have managed really well.

Our players have now begun their roles in school. We have 15 or 16 children who are acting as play leaders every day. The play leaders have set roles including supporting on the sports zone and scooter area, setting up and running the game of the day, acting as play buddies for the younger children and ticking off the dinner register. They are already making a positive contribution to school life. The librarians and litter pickers will also start their roles next week too. These roles, alongside our Young Interpreters, Eco and school council representatives, behaviour and curriculum leaders, Spanish ambassadors and digital leaders, make up our comprehensive children’s leadership opportunities. This week’s pictures show a birthday cake being made in the mud kitchen for Olive’s birthday and our play leaders playing ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf?’ with some of the younger children.

  • Caring for each other – Anti-Bullying week

    Mon 10 Nov 2025

Next week, it is Anti-Bullying week in school. The theme for the week this year is ‘Power for Good’. On Monday, there is a national odd socks day so please could you encourage your child to take part. The children will have an assembly on anti-bullying and their RHE lesson will be based around this year’s theme too.

  • Growing together – building work on site

    Mon 10 Nov 2025

We are very excited with the progress being made in the outbuilding are also looking forward to having the playground back in its entirety for OPAL. The internal work is now complete and we are looking forward to furnishing it and using it for our Dragon’s afterschool club and for interventions during the day. The name of the new building will be the Dragon’s Den. We are very thankful to the Local Authority for supporting the project and to the LBSA for the funds raised too. A great addition to our school site. As part of the grant from the LA, we have to add to our external lighting and this will be addressed this half term.

We have also replaced some of the windows in the Lower School building. Due to the large cost of this, we are splitting the work over the next few years.

  • Be Ready – Assembly this week

    Mon 10 Nov 2025

In our assembly this week, we invited Terry and Charlie in to talk to the children. You will no doubt be aware that Terry has been visiting the school for over 10 years and when he is in, he talks to the children about the protected characteristic of disability. Terry gave the children an update on what he had been doing. He talked to the children about work and what adaptations employers should make when employing someone who is partially sighted or blind. He spoke to the children about some of the companies he had visited and what support he had given them to make their workplaces (including some football stadiums) more blind friendly. We also spoke to the children about a challenge we would like them to take part in, in the Spring term to raise money for the Guide Dogs. We will share more details about it, in the near future.
