Reflection and Respect – assembly this week
The focus of assemblies this week was mental health. Last week, it was World Mental Health Day. We talked to the children about what their understanding of mental health is and what sorts of things they can do to have a positive impact on their own mental health. I shared with the children the idea that they all carried around with them a measuring cylinder and things that happen during a normal day can have positive and negative effects on their mental health. We talked about what could happen before school, during lesson and at break time that might have positive and negative ramifications on them. The children picked out lots of good ideas and we discussed how these events can add or take away from their cylinder. We also touched upon bigger events that can have a bigger impact on their cylinder and what they can do if they are feeling that way. A super assembly and one the children really enjoyed.
