Reflection and Respect – assembly this week

The focus of assemblies this week was Dyslexia Awareness Day. We talked to the children about what Dyslexia is and some of the science behind Dyslexia. We showed them a slide which said that 1in 10 people have dyslexia and asked them to think about how many children that would mean in 1 class, 2 classes and across the school We talked about some of the challenges people with Dyslexia may face in their learning. We also discussed how people with Dyslexia can have many different attributes and strengths We finished the assembly looking at the lives of many famous people who have thrived with Dyslexia. We looked at famous inventors, scientist, business people and actors. A really good way to raise awareness about Dyslexia.
