Welcome to Year 2!

Academic Year 2024-2025
We will add any important information regarding the curriculum, as well as photos that may have been taken of trips or visits happening during the school day.
In computing the children have been learning about algorithms and debugging Bee-bots. They enjoyed creating a maze with bricks which they would then have to send their Bee-bot around from a start point to an end point.
The children took part in the local community art project. They had to draw around their hands and decorate them with their own individual style. These hands will then be joined with many others from the Lady Bay community.
The children, as part of our Pirate topic, have created colourful pirate portraits and they also thought of their pirate name.
GREAT FIRE OF LONDON. The children studied the designs of Tudor houses and recreated these using cereal boxes and coloured paper. They added detail and took great care with their work. They are excited to burn these in the playground.
CHILDREN IN NEED. Thanks for all of your support on Friday for Children in Need. The children enjoyed coming in fancy dress and designing some fabulous dotty pictures.
Visit from the Fire Service. This week the Fire Service came to school to talk about fire safety now and how this is different from 1666. They also showed us the fire engine and the tools that it carries for emergencies.
Space Day rocket making. The children planned and made rockets using recyclable materials. Check the 2W page for some of the fabulous outfits that the children came dressed up in.

Please enjoy some of the lovely photos from the fabulous day the All Star cricket children enjoyed at Trent Bridge at the end of last year! What lucky children to be involved in the guard of honour for the England cricket team!

The long term plan for maths can be found below. We are following the White Rose Maths long term plan, and use their workbooks and materials as the basis of our maths teaching and learning. Home Learning
If your child (or their class / whole year group) needs to self-isolate for 2 weeks, our remote learning resources will be available by clicking on the rainbow below. Please share photographs of your child's completed work with us daily via Seesaw so we can monitor their learning and progress. You can login to Seesaw on a computer or by using the Seesaw app which is available to download on any tablet device.
