Reflection and Respect – assembly this we
The focus of our assembly this week was Remembrance Day. We talked to the children about what they knew about Remembrance Day and when it started. We talked to the children about the ways in which we remember the fallen and the importance of the poppy. It was great to hear how much prior knowledge the children had about the subject. We looked at an image of D-Day and discussed how the soldiers would have been feeling at the time and discussed why it was so important to remember the sacrifices of others. We finished with a discussion about what the lessons that can be learned from the past and why it is so important for us to try to live in peace in the future. There were so really pertinent points raised about conflicts around the world at present and a really mature discussion.
Thank you to Grace, Lottie, George and Milo this week for giving up their time to sell poppies after school. Thank you to all the parents who supported this too. It was great to see so many sold and to see that so many children wanted to support the British Legion too.
