Caring for the environment – assembly this week

The focus of our assembly this week was OPAL play. We started the assembly by asking the children to think about the difference between their play opportunities at break and lunch. We then asked the children to think about what works well at lunch and what works well at break. There was lots of interesting feedback during this. We then introduced the children to the concept of OPAL play and showed them a video of what a school with OPAL would be doing during their lunchtime. It sparked great excitement amongst the children. The children then discussed what sorts of activities they would like to add at lunch. The children will all have their say throughout this journey and will have weekly OPAL assemblies after Christmas where they can share which paly is working and how what could be improved further.
