Be Ready – Year 3 making Shadufs

The children in year 3 have ben learning about Ancient Egypt in their topic work this half term. They have learnt lots about mummification, who the famous explorers were and where Egypt is in relation to where they live. This week, the children have been learning about Egyptian tools and how they used Shadufs to collect water from the Nile. They have really enjoyed the topic and they particularly enjoyed making Shadufs in D and T this week. They had to think about different lever mechanisms and plan how they would make their own. The end products were really good and I am sure they will enjoy evaluating their effectiveness next week.
