Children's Work

Foundation have lots of evidence of their work Geography in their floor book. They have thought about families, homes that different families have as well as the local community. The children have enjoyed discussing changes in their lives and the weather.

Year 1 have enjoyed looking at maps and features of these through fairytales. They have also compared their lives in England to the lives of people in Kenya. They looked on a map to see how far these countries are from each other.

Year 2 have been studying features and different maps of the local area. Thay have drawn Birds Eye view maps of their school. They have also started to think about continents and oceans on a world map.

Year 3 have looked into countries in the Mediterranean, where they are located in Europe and sampled some food from some of these countries. They also looked at the continents around the world. They have started a unit on Earthquakes.

Year 4 have enjoyed learning about Italy and life in this country. THey have made some History linked to Rome and it's importance a long time ago, as well as now.

Year 5 have enjoyed a topic on Rainforests around the World, as well as the effect that humans are having on this biome and habitat. They have also been looking at different maps and the scales of these, linked to the local area.

Year 6 have studied in depth the different states in North America, where the borders are on a world map as well as the times zones within this one country of the world. They chose a specific area to research more in depth.
