At Lady Bay Primary School, we have a teaching assistant who has had specialist training to become an ELSA – Emotional Literacy Support Assistant.
Our School Elsa is Mrs Smith.
Mrs. Smith works 1-1 with children and in small groups to support their emotional wellbeing predominantly in Key Stage 1 and Foundation.
We are also very lucky to have a teaching assistant who was a trained mental health nurse. Mrs Latham works with children in Key Stage 2 to support their mental health and wellbeing.
The Mental Health Lead for our school is Nicky Oakes (SENCO). This is a new role which will be developing over the coming months. If you have any ideas and suggestions or would like to get involved please contact Nicky via the school office or email – nickyoakes@ladybay.notts.sch.uk
The children are able to self-refer if they feel they need support. Class teachers and parents are also able to seek support for their children from Mrs Latham or Mrs Smith.
