This week, we focussed the assembly on Dyslexia Awareness. Each year, we spend time talking to the children about Neurodiversity and how different people see the world. The focus is always that we are all unique and everyone has different strengths. We talked about Dyslexia and the strengths people with dyslexia have and some challenges they may face in the classroom. It was so lovely to see some children talk about their own experiences and what helped them in the classroom. We said that every child is unique and everyone will struggle with something as they grow up and that we all have to find tools that help us. The assembly linked to the British Value of Mutual Respect and the Protected Characteristic of disability. As 1 in 10 people have dyslexia, we will be asking the children to wear red on Friday 6th November to continue to raise awareness and to continue the discussion going next half term.
