Alongside Maths and English, we have several topics planned for this year which will cover a range of curriculum areas including Science, Geography and History. These will be excitedly woven into topics and 'drivers' for learning!
In the Autumn term we delve into the past through our study of Norman Castles which includes exploring Conisbrough Castle. Inspired by this visit, the children create in English stories based the famous outlaw, Robin Hood. In Science we investigate the properties of water and how the water cycle works as well as understanding what we can do to use water more efficiently in our homes.
After half term we learn all about electricity with the children, discovering how important electricity is in modern lives. Circuits are created and these skills are transferred to D&T projects. Finally, just before Christmas we will will look at the early lawmakers in Britain and how laws are introduced in our country.
Other topics into the new year include:
Animals and habitats
In the summer term we have a two night residential trip to Hathersage in the Peak District. This event is always thoroughly enjoyed by both the children and staff.
The children will continue to have Spanish lessons taught by Eva Lopez and practical Science lessons taught by Nicki Crowe.
We will have at least two PE lessons a week, but we do like to take advantage of nice weather and try to use the outdoor spaces whenever we can.
We will continue to develop the children’s personal and social skills through a series of PSHE and RE sessions.
We look forward to an exciting year working together with the children and parents in year 4.
